A place built around the act of creating.
The Farm brings production, hospitality, events, landscape, and privacy together inside one ambitious West Virginia destination.
The environment changes the outcome.
Creative work is shaped by where it happens, who is present, and how much uninterrupted attention it receives.
The Farm began with the idea that a serious artist should be able to step away from the city, live securely and privately, access every essential production resource, and remain immersed long enough to reach a breakthrough.
The complete campus also needs to work when a major residency is not underway. Studios, lodging, venues, events, food, and public programming create independent uses that keep the property active and economically resilient.
Private retreat. Working campus. Year-round destination.
Every element serves both the signature residency and the long-term operation of the property.
Residencies
Bespoke, high-touch creative stays built around major projects and complete privacy.
Production
Studios and working spaces that also serve regional businesses, artists, and independent productions.
Hospitality
Accommodations, food, grounds, and shared spaces that support both residents and selected guests.
Events
Private and public venues generating activity, discovery, and revenue throughout the year.
A West Virginia vision grounded in real work.
The Farm is the shared vision of Jonathan and Amy Defibaugh—West Virginia natives with a commitment to creativity, nature, hospitality, and building opportunities close to home.
Jonathan has worked in media since 2001 and founded MOVID Studios in 2011. His production work has earned three Telly Awards and spans commercial, documentary, healthcare, industrial, community, music, and creative projects.
Since 2016, he has also managed the ongoing redevelopment and operation of St. Joseph Landing, an approximately 800,000-square-foot former hospital campus. That experience includes tenants, facilities, construction, contracts, utilities, infrastructure, events, and the day-to-day reality of making a complicated property work.
The Farm combines those creative and operational backgrounds into a single long-term project.

Ideas strengthened by the work already underway.
The vision is defined. The final place is still taking shape.
The Farm is an active West Virginia business and a destination concept in development. This website presents the intended experience and possibilities; specific facilities, capacities, services, and availability will evolve with the property and development plan.
